Lexello is a daily word game. This page explains what the app stores about you, who can see it, and how to have it deleted.
What we store
| Data | Why | When |
|---|---|---|
| A random account ID | To identify your account | Always |
| A guest credential (stored only as a hash) and sign-in session tokens (hashes only) | To sign you in and recover a guest account on your device | Always |
| Game history: your guesses, results and dates | To restore your game and show history, statistics and streaks | Always |
| Google account identifier (an opaque ID) | To sign in with Google and keep your progress across devices | Only if you sign in with or link Google |
| Username and display name | To show you in your clan and on its leaderboards | You choose them. If you have not set a display name, your username is shown. |
| Clan membership: clan name, your role, join date | To run clans and clan leaderboards | Only if you create or join a clan |
| Name reports you send, and reports made about your names | Moderation | Only when a report is made |
| IP address and device type (user agent) saved with your sign-in sessions; server request logs kept by our hosting provider | Security, abuse prevention and rate limiting | Always. Session records are kept while your account exists. |
We do not store your Google email address, name or profile picture. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell your data.
Guest accounts
If you do not link a Google account, your progress lives under a credential kept on your device. If you uninstall the app or lose the device, it cannot be recovered. Link a Google account on your profile page to avoid this.
What other players can see
- Your clan only: members of a clan you join can see your display name, username, role, join date, your profile statistics (streak, win rate, wins, average tries, guess distribution) and your results on the clan leaderboards. People outside your clan cannot see them.
- Leaderboards never show your guesses, the day's answer, your email, Google details or your full account ID.
- A moderator can remove an offensive name or hide an account from leaderboards.
Deleting your data
Follow the steps on the delete your account page. Deleting permanently removes your account, sessions, linked Google identifier, game history, statistics, leaderboard entries, clan membership and any name reports you sent or that were made about you. Your username becomes available to others. If you own a clan, ownership passes to its longest-standing member, or the clan is deleted if you were the only member. Copies in database backups disappear when those backups expire.
Who processes the data
Data is stored with service providers who process it for us: Render (the game server), Neon (the database) and Google (sign-in, only if you use it). Public data is limited to what is described above.
Children
Lexello is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes. Material changes are described in the app or on this page.
